Journal of Jinan University (Natural Science Edition) was originally published as Journal of Shandong Institute of Building Materials (ISSN 1002-3046)，CN 37-1182/TU)，In 2001, with the approval of the Press and Publication Administration (New issue [2001]623), it was changed to Journal of Jinan University (Natural Science Edition) (ISSN 1671-3559)，CN37-1378/N)。It publishes academic papers on new theories, new ideas, new technologies, new processes, new equipment and new materials in the fields of material science, information and control, chemistry and chemical engineering, biology and medicine, mechanical engineering, civil architecture and basic disciplines。

The journal is an important retrieval journal at home and abroad, such as China Inorganic Analytical Chemical Abstracts, China Chemical Abstracts, China Chemical Abstracts Database, Russian Abstracts Journal (AJ), American Chemical Abstracts (CA), and Cambridge Scientific Abstracts (CSA)，It is the source journal of China Academic Journals Comprehensive Evaluation Database, the science and technology journal group of China Info system, and the first batch of journals to be included in China Academic Journals (optical disc edition)。

Journal of Jinan University (Social Science Edition) is a comprehensive social science academic journal founded by Jinan University in 1990.
